I bought that many bitcoin, cost me £325ish (just what I had spare in the bank). My calculations tell me that I didn’t pay £26.88 in network fees. Am I right or did I get charged £26.88?

How would i calculate my capital gains/losses with bitcoin?

So I'm a fairly new bitcoin user in general and this is the first year i have ever actually bought something with my btc holdings so i want to ensure i go through the tax process correctly.
I make routine purchases of more bitcoins ranging from $25-$50 every so often and each time i make a new purchase i keep track of the following; Date, Amount spent in CAD, Amount received in btc, and the current market price of btc in CAD.
I recently made a purchase for goods online using some of my btc holdings and now i want to get all my information together so that come tax season i wont be caught off guard. Now my understanding from what i have researched online is that in Canada we don't use the FIFO method when calculating the capital gains/losses on a purchase made with btc we use the adjusted cost base method? Now i don't really understand how this works, would that mean for calculating gains/losses on a transaction the acquired price for said btc used would be an average of the current market rate on each one of my btc purchases i have recorded?
So for example lets say i bought btc in 3 separate weeks then on the 4th week i used all of the btc i acquired to make a purchase would i then add all of the market prices for each purchase i made during those 3 weeks together than divide by 3 and use that as the market value when comparing to the current market value of when i used the btc to make a purchase... if that makes any sense.
ANY help is appreciated thanks!

I will be proud if you find my calculator app for Bitcoin micro-investing useful

Hello everyone.
I have finally found a way to make a small contribution into Bitcoin community.
For about a year I was questioning myself how much could I accumulate if I would have been buying a fraction of Bitcoin regularly. I tried my best, but I couldn't find that kind of calculator online, so I decided to make that calculator myself. Free and available for everyone.
I am self-motivated and created it for personal use, but it would be great to hear your thoughts on this idea.
Cryptocurrency Calc shows you the result of regular micro-investing in Bitcoin. You can specify investing amount, regularity of purchase and starting date. Moreover, this app can show an approximate accumulation of BTC if you start today. This is an MVP version of a product. My roadmap contains more cryptocurrencies and more prediction calculators.

Bitcoin Calculator and Log v2 for Bitcoin Holders

Initially posted this in /Bitcoin, and thought some of you here might find this useful as well.
Back again with a few updates on my Bitcoin Calculator and Log, best used for Bitcoin holders. My previous version was posted here, so feel free to compare.
Here are a couple of pictures of the tool I made in Excel 2013:
BTC Calculator
BTC Log
I changed the price of bitcoin in these pictures to $350/BTC, just so it would look a little better than my last post, plus I like to dream a little bit, and this tool is definitely one to help me dream.
From my last post, there were quite a few skeptical people fearing malicious software, so as per a suggestion from wtfcode2, I included a google sheets version here. It's definitely not as pretty since it's just imported from Excel, but you should be able to use all of the same formulas I used. What you won't be able to use are the updating price and BTC in wallet features I have in excel. You might be able to import this back into your own excel, and try to reclaim some of these features, although I have not attempted this, so let me know if it works for you.
For those who might just trust me, here is my dropbox link to the excel document. If you decide to download it, scan it, and find it not to be malicious, I would appreciate you post about its legitimacy. I only use this spare account to protect my identity since I use my actual purchase history to show how I use the tool, although after this posting, I'll probably delete all future purchases.
Some features the excel version has includes:
Unfortunately, I still suck at adding nice looking graphs and charts to get a visual representation of the statistics, but I am still working on it, so there may be a future update with them included. As always, any and all feedback is welcome, and I hope you find this tool useful.

[Serious] How to deal with Crypto Tax 2020?

First of all, please upvote for visibility + more opinions - this concerns all of us. Also, if you're stupid enough to think you'll get away with avoiding tax's despite KYC'ing to Coinbase & Binance don't bother commenting. News flash! you're gonna end up paying that tax in the long run + huge fines eating into your gains (or even putting you into debt).

Anyways... I started investing in 2017. As a noob I did what most people did, chased multiple shitcoins, bought and sold various different pumps getting wrecked along the way. Then towards the end of the year, my portfolio increased significantly... but I DIDN'T sell - so I didn't "crystalise" any gainz. (I sold a couple hundred here and there during hard financial times, but I'm guessing nothing close to the free capital gains allowance).
Fast forward just over 2 years, since then I've been buying BTC/ETH/XMR on a consistent basis. It's getting to the point where if I were to sell enough of my stack, I'd owe tax as it'd be over the "allowed" CGT threshold.
That leads me to my question... how the fuck are you supposed to calculate capital gains tax when it comes to crypto? For the past 3 years I've traded in and out of alt-coins on multiple exchanges (some of which don't even exist anymore). It would be easy if it was just FIAT IN vs FIAT OUT, but the fact that CRYPTO to CRYPTO is considered taxable just makes it a nightmare! On top of that I did some freelance work (paid in BTC) which adds to the complexity.
Take another example of what confuses me: Say I bought 1BTC on Coinbase in 2017, then 1BTC on Kraken in 2018, then 0.5BTC on Coinbase again in 2019, and hold them all in the same wallet. Then if I were to sell 0.5BTC in 2020, what Bitcoin was actually sold? Half of the 1 BTC bought in 2017? Is it FIFO?
I genuinely don't know where to start and need help. I don't want to be in a shitty situation (for example some massive 2017-esque bull run happens just before the end of the tax year and I decide to cash out and have 3 days to sort shit out). I want to be prepared.

I've come across services such as https://www.cointracker.io/ /https://bitcoin.tax/ etc but feel really hesitant to give quasi-unknown companies full read access to my wallet addresses, portfolio amount, personal email address etc. Privacy is key in the crypto space and I don't want another attack vector especially after seeing much more established companies such as Ledger fucking up (idiots) and losing my personal data.
What do I do? I've even thought of selling EVERYTHING to FIAT and immediately buying it all back and taking whatever fine comes my way on the chin just so I can clearly track crypto transactions and not have to stress about it.
If anyone has experience with crypto tax's please share any information that may be valuable to me/all the many others that are in the same situation as me.

TL;DR: Bought loads of Bitcoin and Shitcoins throughout the past 3 years, finally starting to total up to an amount that'd be taxable if I sold a chunk - dafuq do I do regarding Taxes?

Are there any SIMPLE transaction fee calculators? I may have to remove bitcoin as a payment method on my site.

Hi there,
I am having a number of customers have problems with their transactions getting stuck. Invariably they are new to bitcoin and the default fee in wallets like mutlibit and bitcoin core is too low but they have no idea why the suggested fee would be a problem so they use that.
Their transaction gets stuck and they either blame Bitcoin for being too complicated for them, or us for stealing their money.
I have found a number of fee estimation sites but all of them display graphs which new users have not got a clue how to interpret. I need a simple tool which uses the average transaction size and looks at current network congestion to calculate a fee in BTC. No "satoshis per byte" or anything that is more complex than pasting a number into their client.
Does such a tool exist, or if it doesn't, how hard would it be to make?
If I wanted to make this I would take the [fee per byte] for the [lowest fee with a possibility of getting in the next block] and multiply it by the [average transaction size in bytes].
So for a 300 byte tx it would currently spit out 0.000423 BTC. (0.141 sat/byte)

How to calculate my Bitcoin mining earnings with given values

Hi! I'm a miner and I want to find out how much cash I will earn. https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculatobtn has a really nice calculator for that but I want to know the actual formula based on my hashrate, network hashrate, network difficulty, block time and block reward.
Please don't short numbers just use variables in the formula. Thank you!
Edit: all I have is: (my hashrate)/(network hashrate) * 1440/(block time) * (block reward) but if I use 0.2 MH/s my earnings are >2 BTC/year that can't be true....
Thanks in advance!
Solution: The formula is correct... I made a mistake by assuming an API returned the network hashrate in H/s but it returned GH/s.
